If you are looking for scanlations, they're at numnumnummies. If you are looking for fanfiction, some is here (see "fanfic" tag) and some is at not_a_bird. If you want to friend me, feel free to do so, but you do not need to in order to access anything fandom-related. Most of my entries are not friends-locked, and you probably don't actually care about the ones that are. If you friend me, I am not going to friend you back. If you would like to contest that, please leave a comment so we can discuss it. Comments are screened for everyone's privacy.

This new policy is not intended to hurt or slight anyone; it's for my own peace of mind. As the image below states, as far as LJ friends are concerned, I am--

Am I the only one experiencing a complete lack of sympathy for Obito? I try to tell myself that he's a teenager and thus he feels things with that particular teenaged intensity and blindness, but it still doesn't make me feel anything other than annoyance. Same goes for Sasuke. I could like Itachi, but his failure to knock any sense into Sasuke robs me of the ability to like him.

And, God, don't get me started on Madara. A world with only peace and love is the best thing? NOPE, SORRY, YOU CAN'T HAVE LOVE AND HAPPINESS AND PEACE WITHOUT HATRED AND SORROW AND WAR BECAUSE CONTRAST GIVES EVERYTHING MEANING, YOU NIMROD. I realized that (thanks to Emily Dickinson) when I was 16 freakin' years old, and you can't figure it out at 100+? YOU'RE STUPID.

So, in short, the entire Uchiha clan can just drop dead right now. Kishimoto, congrats: You gave me feels. My irritation and sarcasm aside, though, I am quite curious to know what circumstances led up to Kakashi having to kill Rin.

As for my other two usual reads: OP continues to win my love, especially Momonosuke--I adore his wee samurai-ness--and Sanji--kicking the Marines for their own good!--right now, and I'm looking forward to Zoro slicing Monet to ribbons (or some variation thereof; please grant my wish, Odaaaaa!!!). And Bleach continues to underwhelm me. Ichigo has finally shown up and Byakuya is perhaps going to die and I just. Don't. Care.

On the winding road of the interwebs, I stumbled across a talented writer's website with some very enjoyable fics. The pair of interrelated stories to which I'm linking focus on "how and why the Visored captains returned to Soul Society, including some Kensei/Hisagi." They're both very good, with excellent characterization, and I hope you'll give them a read.

Picking Up Whatever's Mine

The author has one other KenShuu story, and has written for multiple fandoms, so check that stuff out, too, if you want!

I'm pretty sure it's been established that Kakashi graduated from the academy at age 5 and became a chuunin a year later. Whatevs, Kishimoto. Whatevs.

I'm not sure how to feel about Obito being Tobi. I guess I'm underwhelmed because so many fans have been dead certain that was the case ever since it came to light that Tobi was the Big Bad. Maybe Kishimoto made it semi-obvious on purpose by giving him the name Tobi. I dunno.

I loved the flashback, though, despite the inconsistency concerning Kakashi's background. It was so fun seeing all the jounin as kiddos! Especially Asuma (his hair!) and Kurenai (who is adorable even with her eerie eyes) chatting, Genma with his toothpick, Hayate with his eye-bags (and looking exceptionally sullen), Ebisu's spectacular New Wave 'do, Guy with his non-bowl-cut hair, and Kakashi, of course, who I find just adorable as a kid.

But anyway, I'm looking forward to the explanation behind all of Obito's actions. It'd better be good. If it's something like, "Rin loved Kakashi and not me so I hate the world," I will be seriously annoyed.

In "Bleach" news, glad to see Yamamoto goin' medieval on these guys, although I do find it a little humorous that all the beaten-down Shinigami are galvanized by it. Like, "Wow, he's super mad and gonna annihilate all of 'em? I feel reinvigorated!" One totally follows the other, no question. XDDD

One Piece: Magnificent this week or what?! The panel with Brownbeard thinking, 'They knew my name,' and the one with Sanji being thankful his body rather than Nami's received damage and Usopp proclaiming how proud of Sanji he is were the absolute best.

Naruto: If Tobi is Obito, I dunno what I'm gonna do. Also, there will be many "Tobito" people crowing about how they knew it all along.

Bleach: Nope, young, adorable Sasakibe and awesome young (and awesome old) Yamamoto do not make up for your crimes, Kubo. On a different note, is it stupid and pathetic that now I kinda want Yamamoto to make Shuuhei his new lieutenant? I mean, Shuuhei was ready to rush to his aid, just like I believe Sasakibe would do, and suddenly that romantic idea sprang to my mind. Well, fanfiction awaits, I suppose. (^^;)

To Kubo Tite:

"Bleach" was a good manga once. The characters and the premise were strong and interesting even if the setting was shaky in some ways. Your fans hoped everything would grow and be improved upon and for a while that was indeed the case.

Now, 11 years later, "Bleach" is a parody of itself. The characters have been static for years, and apparently even some of their power levels haven't changed, except for Ichigo's--always except for Ichigo's. For example, the entire "Xcution" story arc was merely a vehicle for Ichigo to regain his powers, but was otherwise entirely pointless, from the boring new characters and their totally vague motivations on down to their bullshit Fullbring powers, which I'm sure we'll never hear about again. The whole thing read like an anime filler arc. Granted, Ichigo is the protagonist, but even he's static as hell, and you peopled the manga with many characters who had the potential to make contributions and draw readers in, yet you never gave them the chance to do that. The only changes are their hair and clothes, which is pathetic, to say the least. Sasakibe is a case in point of your repeated failure to take the opportunity to develop your own creations. Your readers knew next to nothing about him and then you killed him.

Speaking of killing characters, it's downright unkind to keep your readers in suspense over the fate of characters like Byakuya and Kira, who may or may not be dead, as you insist on reiterating one way or another in nearly every recent chapter. Take a hint from all the death threats on Twitter and let us know one way or the other. Waffling is universally despised. And if you're trying to maintain if not gain new readership in light of falling sales, it's backfiring in a big way. Also, pandering to your remaining fans by bringing Kenpachi in to bust heads only represents another failure on your part. All it means is that your material is garbage and that you know it's garbage, so you're grasping at straws. It smacks of desperation.

Furthermore, please stop showing Ichigo struggling frantically to escape the cage in Hueco Mundo. Multiple panels of him screaming and thrashing about are not needed in every chapter. If he's not managing to escape by himself or being released by someone else, stop showing it. Your readers know his situation and do not need it repeated every week; you're beating a dead horse at this point. You could use those pages more productively and move the action along elsewhere. You are wasting opportunities at every turn and it's just sad.

It seems that you don't know what you're doing as a mangaka. Your story meanders like a delirious man lost in the desert, your characters are frozen in developmental glaciers, and you're pulling events out of your ass, and guess what: THE SHIT SHOWS. I don't think you had any plan going into this, and you have not fleshed out the world that you yourself created. You try to cover your ten-mile-wide plot holes with waves of new characters and big action panels, but those tactics are as transparent as air.

All that said, I actually don't put all the blame on you. Your editors and assistants should take some flak, too, for not catching the innumerable storytelling flaws and pointing them out and bolstering your drafts where needed. There is a whole group of people responsible for "Bleach" and they have all let it get to this point.

I suppose it's in my nature to retain a smidgen of optimism that maybe you'll redeem yourself. Maybe the plot will take a turn for the good and I will be pleasantly surprised. I want to hope for the best, but I am expecting the worst. You've let me down, and I'm not the only one.

From a disappointed fan
